SipWise is a private drink journal. You log what you drink and it shows four
separate pictures — hydration, caffeine, free sugar and alcohol. Need
help? Contact us at

Common Topics
1) What SipWise Does
- Four lenses, not one score: hydration, caffeine, free
sugar and alcohol are tracked separately, because they mean different things.
- Today: your running totals for the day, each against its
own goal or reference.
- Your usuals: tap a drink to log it instantly; press and
hold to pick a size.
- Diary: a calendar of what you drank, day by day.
- Insights: weekly patterns and how this week compares with
last.
- Drink library: the built-in catalogue plus any drinks
you add, each with your own default serving.
2) Logging a Drink
- Tap a usual on the Home screen — one tap logs it.
- Choose opens your drink library to pick and set a size.
- Say and Scan use AI and need SipWise
Plus (see below).
- You can backdate a drink to an earlier day from the Diary.
3) SipWise Plus and AI Logging
- SipWise Plus unlocks two AI ways to log: Say (describe a
drink out loud) and Scan (photograph a drink or its label).
Everything else in SipWise is free.
- The AI returns estimated details — drink, size, caffeine, sugar,
alcohol. Nothing is logged until you review and confirm it.
- SipWise Plus is an auto-renewing yearly subscription. App Store product
ID: sipwise_ios_pro_year. Pricing, currency, renewal
timing and billing are handled by Apple and shown in the purchase sheet.
- Plus includes an allowance of AI logs (currently about 1200 per
subscription period; subject to change). Settings shows your usage and
reset date. When it runs out, keep logging by tap or by hand until it
resets.
- Tap Restore on the SipWise Plus screen to recover a
subscription bought with the same Apple ID.
- Manage or cancel from your Apple account subscription
settings.
4) Logging by Voice
- Tap Say, allow microphone and speech recognition once,
then describe what you drank in a normal sentence.
- You can name more than one drink at once — “a large latte and
a glass of water”.
- Speech is turned into text by Apple on your device; SipWise sends the
text, not a recording.
- Say the size if you know it (“a 500 ml bottle”); otherwise
SipWise estimates and you can adjust before confirming.
5) Logging by Photo or Label
- Use a clear, straight-on photo with good lighting and no glare.
- For packaged drinks, include the nutrition label so caffeine and sugar
can be read rather than estimated.
- Review every number against the label before you confirm — from a
label they are read, from a plain cup they are estimated.
- If the photo can't be read, fill the drink in by hand or try a sharper
photo. The photo is not stored on our servers.
6) Goals and References
- Hydration goal: set it yourself, or let SipWise
personalise it from your weight and activity.
- Caffeine reference: a general daily figure you can
adjust.
- Free sugar: shown against a World Health Organization
total-diet reference. It counts only the sugar from your logged drinks —
it is not a “budget” and going over is not an alarm.
- Alcohol: awareness only. SipWise shows standard drinks
this week and your alcohol-free days, following the Australian guideline. It
never shows a “remaining allowance”.
- Pregnancy / breastfeeding mode: adjusts the caffeine
reference and replaces the alcohol count with health guidance.
7) Reminders and Notifications
- Turn on Water reminders in Settings for a gentle nudge
— only if you are behind your goal, in the mid-afternoon, never in the
evening, never about alcohol.
- Add your own reminders under Settings › All reminders
— fixed times or check-ins.
- If alerts do not appear, check iOS notification permission, Focus / Do
Not Disturb, and device time settings.
8) Your Data
- Everything is stored on your device. There is no account and nothing is
synced.
- Settings › Export data saves your journal as JSON
or CSV through the Share Sheet. This is free.
- The database and photos are excluded from iCloud and device backups.
Deleting the app deletes the journal — export first.
9) Accuracy and Health
- SipWise is a journal, not medical advice and not a medical device. Every
figure is a general estimate.
- AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate or misread — always review
before confirming.
- For medical advice, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding, talk to
a qualified professional.
10) Appearance
- Settings › Appearance changes the accent colour
(default teal), light / dark / auto theme, and a calmer “calm”
style.
When Contacting Support
- Device model and iOS version.
- SipWise app version and build number (Settings › About).
- What happened and what you expected.
- Screenshots and any error message.
- If AI-related: whether it happened during voice logging or photo / label
logging.
- For purchase issues: Apple ID region and approximate purchase time.
